Hi, I'm Natalie!
I am a Clinical Social Worker, specialising in mental health counselling. I am experienced in various roles as a mental health social worker, specialising in working with at-risk youth, and adults needing assistance with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, separation/divorce and domestic abuse and/or violence.
I am originally from Canada and have lived in Townsville since 2009. I have worked as a Clinical Social Worker being self-employed in Townsville since 2017. Prior to this, I've held positions as a Community Visitor for child and youth in care a Learning for Life Worker for the Smith Family, and in Canada as a Child Protection Social Worker (Child Safety) and a Youth Probation Officer.
In completing my master's degree in social work at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, I completed my thesis in youth justice, researching the need for Culturally Relevant Alternative Measures Program (CRAMP) for young offenders. My research led to a comprehensive proposal to the Minister of Justice revealing my findings from my research on CRAMP, with recommendations for improving Quebec's Alternative Measures program for young offenders.
At Holistic Health Counselling, our mission is to provide high-quality counselling services to individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties.
We believe in taking a client-centered approach to counselling, either in-person or via video/tele- conference, where we work collaboratively with our clients to identify their goals and develop a personalised plan for treatment and healing.
Our approach in treating mental health symptoms uses a holistic approach including exploring one's relationship with significant others (family/relations), social connections, health and fitness, nutrition, sleep patterns, cognitive-behavioural correlations, stress factors, financial health, mindfulness meditation and spirituality.
Our team members are experienced in various roles, and skilled in scientific-evidenced based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-informed Therapy, and Talk-Therapy, to name a few.
We are dedicated to helping our clients achieve their goals and improve their mental health and well-being through love, kindness, respect, and compassion.
